I’d like to voice my support for inclusion of the Golden Community Garden in the Corridor Master Plan. My husband and I live in a north-facing apartment with our 2-year old, and this year because of the Golden Community Garden and its central location, we will be able to grow our own local organic produce to feed our family this summer. We are so excited to make new friends (we are new to Golden), contribute to a local food economy and teach our son respect for earth and food through this great opportunity. The future of the Community Garden itself depends on its inclusion in this plan. Please helps us give it a permanent home.
    Thanks,
    Elizabeth Haselwood

I believe in the Community Garden and feel that is a great educational opportunity for families.

Also, how about moving the Golden History Museum to the south side of the Creek, west of the CCHP, providing educational space and restrooms for both entities. This could be a great fund raising project, or matching funds, or grants, to do a real museum…………..and we could expand city hall into the current museum space……….which used to be our Library!

Back in the late 1980’s I was a part of a study committee given the task of planning for the construction of a new city hall building. At that time we were told that the 100 year flood level was just below the window sills of the present city building. With the reconstruction of the bridges at Washington and Ford streets(potential river plugs) perhaps that high water level is a bit lower but still major flood damage is possible to the present facilities.

When the city shops were to be moved up into north Golden one of the arguments for the move was that a new city hall could be placed on the higher ground being vacated. We should include this option in any long term plan for the creek area. Any proposed construction adjacent to the creek must take into account the danger of major flooding.
